About me.
My leadership journey is shaped by experience, reflection, and purpose - built in environments where mistakes have consequences and decisions matter. Across UK Policing, Hong Kong Special Duties Unit, and the Fire Service, I have led in complex, high-risk settings where leadership ability, behaviour, and climate are tested daily - not in theory, in reality. I don’t talk about leadership from the sidelines. I’ve lived it - under pressure, with responsibility and with people relying on me to get it right.
Ability – Leadership That Works.
I am a leadership practitioner, thinker and trainer with extensive experience in specialist operations, counter-terrorism, firearms, security and training. I have led at strategic, tactical and operational levels, working across partnerships, collaborative environments, and specialist roles where clarity, judgement, and execution matter. In more recent times I have designed and implemented a full organisational leadership and cultural change programme - delivering structured courses and interventions across all levels of the organisation.
Behaviour – How Leadership Shows Up.
I lead from the front. Always have. I focus on what leaders do, not what they say they do. Behaviour is where leadership is exposed - especially when pressure hits. My approach is grounded in self-awareness, personal impact and emotional control, because leaders who can’t manage themselves can’t be trusted to manage others. As a facilitator, I pride myself on my ability to connect with any audience and create learning experiences that are engaging, relevant, meaningful and grounded in experience.
Climate – Environments That Don’t Break.
I founded Exemplar Leadership Ltd to develop leaders who create environments that hold under strain. Climate isn’t about comfort - it’s about trust, fairness and standards when things get difficult. My work focuses on helping leaders build climates where fear doesn’t drive behaviour, teams don’t fragment under pressure and people know they’ll be backed when they act with intent and integrity. Psychological safety, belonging, and purpose aren’t soft ideas - they’re what keep teams functional when conditions deteriorate.

I develop leaders who step forward, take responsibility, and don’t duck hard moments. Leaders who lead by example, remain steady under pressure and create the conditions for their people to perform - consistently, credibly and when it matters most.
